English

This week we will be looking at how to start a story and grab your readers attention. The story opening is very important. It should make your reader want to read on and read the rest of your story.

Look at this PowerPoint about the different ways you can start a story. (Click on the blue writing at the bottom and click view to open it)

Now look at this PowerPoint. There are 5 different story openers. Can you decide what type of opener they are? How do they make you want to read on? What questions do you have about the story? You can answer your questions on the worksheet below the PowerPoint, you do not have to do the table at the bottom.

Send your finished worksheets to your teacher, if you can not print the sheets, just write your answers in your book. Remember you do not have to do the table. You can rank the extracts from your most to least favourite though.
