WALT: Identify the key values and symbols of the Sikh faith

Recap: Can you recall what we learnt about Sikhism in our last lesson? Do you know where the Sikh faith originated? What do Sikhs believe? Can you answer these questions? 

This week, we will look at the key values and symbols of the Sikh faith in a little more depth. There are three key values of the Sikh faith, known as the three pillars of Sikhism. Learn more about them in this PowerPoint.

Pronunciations of key words (if needed):

The Five K's are the markers of Sikh identity, and they consist of: uncut hair, a short sword or knife, a steel wristband, a wooden comb, and shorts worn as an undergarment. Learn more about them by looking at this PowerPoint. 

Watch this short video about  two young members of the Sikh Khalsa. They show their commitment to Sikhism by wearing the 5 Ks, which are symbols of Sikh ideals.
